THE   MAGIC  OF  CHINA

As a child, I had a strong desire to visit China. In class at school, I learned about the culture, the people and many of the wonders this amazing country has to offer its visitors. In 2013, I was able to fulfil on my dream and visit China and many other cities in this very big country. The following photographs represents a small taste of my amazing adventure.

Picture
The Great Wall shot from the south side from Badaling Train Station.
This was a breathtaking moment; not just taking the photograph, the realisation that I was standing on a part of history - The Great Wall. This shot was taken towards the end of my stay in China, however, I wanted to start this story with this image because it was quite an emotional and psychologically profound moment in my life. At one point, I experienced myself literally speechless.  When I recovered, my thoughts ran to the men who built the wall over many dynasties, the sacrifice they made, the lives lost. it was overwhelming and yet a joy, a personal joy, to have had the privilege to experience this majestic sight.

Panda Zoo - CHENGDU
This banner greets all visitors to the only Zoo in the world that caters to the needs and longevity of Pandas. These wonderful creatures are looked after here, in an environment that supports there well being. I had never seen Pandas before - they look like giant black and white teddy bears and really cute.

After entering the complex, I became aware of the atmosphere. These over hanging branches really created a feeling of calmness as the light crept through the branches. The atmosphere was really "still" and yet not creepy.
