I have heard and read a lot of good things about this lens.
Nothing prepared me for the richness, depth, contrast and beautiful colour this lens captures not to mention the exquisite "BOKEH". I have been desiring this lens for quite sometime and now that I have it, I am delighted. It is an FX Lens, however, on my DX body, it functions just fine. Composing images is no different than using my 50mm Lens. Zooming with my feet is not only good exercise but also great for developing my awareness on "filling the frame".
My intention is to use this as a walk around people lens - interacting with strangers as part of my 100 Strangers Project - this I feel will be a perfect combination.
In reviewing my professional set -up, it has occurred to me that my best images have come from my Prime Lenses; 35mm, 50mm, 60mm Macro and now that the 85mm has joined the team, I look forward to a future of compelling intimate imagery.
Here is a selection of images take with the Nikon 85mm 1.8G Lens. Straight out of the camera, no Photoshop editing.
