When I was a young boy, I loved the television series "Land of the Giants". This program has been in my mind in the last few weeks because I have just discovered the world of "Macro or Close-Up Photography". It has been a thrilling experience photographing Spider's Webs and Lady Birds. Life up close has got me present to this amazing world we share with micro life forms.
As humans, how on earth can we be so arrogant to think that we own all of it when micro life forms and micro-organisms are the very reason for and the building blocks of life it self.
Take a look at these images:
This was truly a glorious moment in my studies as a photographer - to capture one of the most magical sights in nature, a spider spinning it's web. What is this intelligence that communicates so profoundly with one of natures most mystical creatures? The Spider knows exactly what to do, how to do it and does it with such perfection and artistry it is truly awe inspiring.
To this little force of life, the ladybird, life goes on in its own little world, from leaf to leaf.
Peaceful in the spirit and force of its being. How marvellous and awe inspiring, that the life of this little creature has so much to teach and share.
Observing this lady bird was surreal, it felt like time stopped for just a brief moment. I watched this delicate creature going about its business calmingly, serenely and with purpose. This was another form of communication to me, communicating with another of god's creature I share this world with.
I am truly humbled by this experience and grateful that the craft of photography has opened my eyes to this gift we call life. What a celebration to wake up every morning and be gifted another day to create, love and make a differentce.
